The Jack Vargas Digital Archive creates a second life for the written correspondence between Chicano artists and authors Jack A. Vargas and Ronnie Carrillo exchanged between Orange County, East Los Angeles, and 1976 and the early 1980’s. The letters in this collection are scanned for a high quality digital repository and appropriately tagged for cross referencing and comparative analysis. JVDA is an intricately designed digital destination for scholars, students, and artists to gain access to Jack A. Vargas’ personal narratives as told to Ronnie Carrillo, with a distinct care given to the materiality and visual resonance of Vargas’ writing style, calligraphy, and mail art aesthetics.
